North Dallas, part of the large and popular metropolitan city of Dallas, is a place people love to be. Loosely defined as the area in the middle of the North Central Expressway, Interstate 635, Interstate 35E, and U.S. 380, it covers 388 square miles with around 1,090,426 inhabitants, although the density is low for such an urban area. From amazing food and schools to a vibrant atmosphere and nightlife, North Dallas has something to offer everyone.

Considered one of the best places to live in the United States, North Dallas has something for everyone, from great access to businesses and jobs to a variety of recreational activities. North of the busy downtown area, residents of North Dallas get the best of both worlds — they are close enough to the big-city amenities to get access to all the excitement but also live in an area with large, new homes and a slower, more relaxing atmosphere. The community is welcoming and friendly, the neighborhoods are spacious and cozy, and the nearby Dallas area is exciting with plenty to do. This combination of qualities makes North Dallas an ideal location for nearly everyone.

The Real Estate Market

Classified by the National Association of Realtors in 2021-2022 as a top 10 market since the pandemic, the North Dallas real estate market is selling almost 10% faster than last year in some cases. As the active listings of single-family houses decreased by 14.8%, those same houses are increasing in price by more than 22%. Meanwhile, the close-to-list price ratio, which is defined as the average value of sales divided by the list price for every deal, is put at 104.7%, which is a 6.4% increase since 2021. This means houses for sale in North Dallas are typically selling for over the asking price.

For current North Dallas residents, the market could not be better. Their houses are going up in value, meaning their property investment is paying off. The current market is great news for people wanting to sell their homes as well.

The Dallas Independent School District serves North Dallas. Covering 384 square miles and 230 schools, the public school district is the second largest district in Texas. It values equity, tenacity, vision, and innovation, believing these values are what have shaped it into a forward-looking, prominent district. With 22,000 enthusiastic professionals serving a population of 145,000 students, the teachers, staff, and volunteers are award-winning.

The attractions

There are many North Dallas attractions and amenities for residents to enjoy. Among the many options for shopping, Dallas’ largest mall, the North Park Center Mall, has 200 retailers and over a dozen great dining options. Besides its great local and brand stores, the mall also has a movie theater and beautiful artwork and architecture throughout the center.

Home to many parks and wide stretches of green lawns, one North Dallas park to check out is Flag Pole Hill park. Created in 1929, the park covers over 107 acres and includes a walking trail, a playground, and expansive green space for a variety of outdoor activities. A covered pavilion was built in the park in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

One of North Dallas’ more unique features is the Reunion Tower. From the GeO-Deck 17 feet in the air, visitors enjoy 360-degree panoramic views from an indoor or outdoor observation deck, and they can also get a free digital photo. It is a great place for a family outing or a romantic date. During the summer, the tower provides many free activities with general admission tickets, including magic shows, arts and crafts, and special visits.

North Dallas is home to a variety of unique, delicious restaurants. One such restaurant, The Mercury, has been a great place to get New American food since 1998. With a menu of quality food options, this upscale restaurant is a popular place for date nights and business lunches.

For Greek-inspired, modern food, Ziziki’s is the place to be. Family-owned, this quality restaurant is dedicated to serving fantastic food made only with the best and freshest ingredients. The cuisine is healthy, with a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Founded in 1974, Royal China offers both traditional Chinese favorites and unique dishes. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is fantastic. A great place to go out for both individuals and groups, the Chinese restaurant offers superb food and a one-of-a-kind experience.

The many things to do

Combining fun entertainment and education, the museum offers over 80 exhibits of holograms, optical illusions, interactive illusion rooms, and installations. From the balance testing Vortex Tunnel to the dilemma games, the museum offers an experience everyone can enjoy.

For a virtual reality experience unlike any other, head to the Zero Latency DFW. With a comfortable backpack, a controller, and a headset as the only equipment, there are no wires or cables to restrict movement. The wide, empty room allows guests to explore and move around comfortably, just as they do in real life. Come alone or in a group of up to eight to enjoy a virtual reality game you won’t soon forget.

A few minutes from downtown, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens sit on the shore of White Rock Lake. With 11 beautiful gardens spanning 66 acres, the gardens provide stunning views and colors all year round.
